Goodbye Monarch, Hello Black Bay

2019 was a year of MASSIVE change for me. My marital status, my place of residence, my job, and my name.

It was also the year that I truly started LIVING, and recognized that for the first time in many years, I had the freedom to live my life on my terms. I discovered far more about myself and my needs than I expected, and my career grew in ways that I never expected.

Along with these changes came another difficult, but necessary change.

Since 2013, Monarch Visual has represented my “Design Sandbox”. All freelance design work or art that I created lived in this realm. Some of it was because I believed that I needed a name to make me “official”, but a lot of it was because for a while I was uncomfortable owning and being the face of my work.

Not anymore. Recently I’ve started to put my name AND my face to my work, owning my successes, and claiming the praise that I’ve rightfully earned.  After being on the fence about it for a while, I also decided that changing the name that will house all of my creative endeavors was a necessary part of things.

Originally I chose Monarch Visual because at the time I felt like I was changing, and growing - transforming. I was - but certainly not in the ways that I was going to and that I needed to. So, the name just doesn’t fit anymore.

Starting today, I’m making the transition to Black Bay Curiosities. I feel that this name is much more suited to my various outlets - Fine Art, Design, photography, and lifestyle products. This name represents several aspects of my life and personality - curious, fun, and of course, a nod to the Chesapeake Bay where I was born and raised and that will always be home.

I’ll always be appreciative of Monarch Visual and the support, opportunities, and amazing projects that it brought to me - but now it’s time to move on and take my creative space in the direction that its meant to go.

I want to thank all of you that have been with me for the last 7 years, and I hope you’ll stick with me in this new direction.

Black Bay Curiosities will officially be launching in April of this year, and by December Monarch Visual will be completely phased out.
